About VET at DSHS
Qualifications that open doors
Vocational Education and Training (VET) at Denmark SHS gives students the opportunity to earn nationally recognised qualifications while they complete their Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE). VET is a genuine pathway to employment, apprenticeships and further training.
Completed VET certificates count towards the WACE, meaning students can pursue a vocational pathway without sacrificing their school certificate. Many students combine VET with ATAR or General subjects to keep their options open across both university and vocational pathways.
VET & the WACE
How VET counts towards your WACE
VET certificates completed during Years 11 and 12 contribute to WACE achievement. Certificate II qualifications (or higher) provide recognition within the WACE framework, and some VET programs also contribute to the ATAR through endorsed programs.
Students who successfully complete a minimum of a Certificate II are recognised within the WACE. Higher-level certificates may provide additional ATAR contribution points where the course is endorsed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA).
